- I opened in May 2022
WHAT WAS BUSINESS LIKE BEFORE JOINING THE PROGRAMME?
- I was just starting out solo. I had been employed with other salons for years and decided to go it alone. It was a scary but exciting time ahead!
WHAT MADE YOU REACH OUT TO BILL?
- I really liked Bills online presence and how helpful he always seemed. I had been following him for a while and um-ing and ah-ing about the
programme. Then I finally met Bill at Crufts and the decision was made. He spent ages talking to me and made me feel so comfortable and I could see the direction I wanted to go in. Opening my own business having never done it before was very daunting but with Bill and his mentors behind me I felt supported and ready to take on the world!
WHY DID YOU JOIN THE PROGRAMME?
- I joined as I really wanted to make a success and hit the ground running with the new business! I knew starting from scratch that I’d need the extra support and guidance especially with structure and mindset
HOW HAS THE PROGRAMME HELPED YOU FINANCIALLY?
- Since opening in May 2022 I have had the confidence to do 3 price increase and have a proper structure in place for extra charges like matting,
behaviour etc. I don’t think that I would of had the confidence to push my beliefs without being here! Soon I hope to take my first dividends from The business
HOW HAS THE PROGRAMME HELPED YOU MENTALLY?
- When you feel low or unsure you have so many people the genuinely have your back! People that 100% understand where you’re coming from as are in the same boat as you! It’s so easy to feel drowned and overwhelmed in this business, so it’s nice to know people understand and actually care.
HOW HAS THE PROGRAMME HELPED YOU ORGANISATIONALLY?
- Having someone hold you accountable for what you want to achieve, completely motivates you. Even when there is too much to take on, there are tools in place to help you go through it a bit at a time. Whether that be an accountability buddy, or using tools on the portal or group, or having a zoom call with other groomers. I always go quiet and keep my head down when there is a lot happening, but seeing other people’s wins and progress on the Facebook group keeps me going.
WOULD YOU RECOMMEND THE PROGRAMME AND WHY?
- 100% recommend! Bill and his team of mentors are there when you need them! I don’t think I would of made as much progress financially, mentally and personally as I have done, within a year of being open. Even now being established for a year I know that if there is anything I need help with or any troubles I have, there are so many professionals to call on. Also other groomers I have met through the programme have become great friends. Just getting together with like minded people who genuinely want to grow and change with the industry, rather than just do the same thing day in day out and get stagnant – has been a game changer for me
WHAT DOES THE NEXT 12 MONTHS LOOK LIKE FOR YOUR BUSINESS?
- I have my first groomer starting this week with me, and her appointments are getting filled slowly. I would hope in the next 12 months that we gel together as a team and have a really positive workplace. I would also like to take on an apprentice when the time is right, and then spend more time managing and running the business, rather than spending every day grooming – less hours in the business and more hours on the business!
